Emerald Green Project: Project underway in 1,064 villages of Bago Region

Emerald Green Projectby the Department of Rural Development is being implemented in regions and states. In Bago, an event was held regarding the rural development projects in the region. The Emerald Green Projectaims to promote socio-economic development of the rural people and poverty reduction. In Bago Region, the project is being implemented in 1,064 villages of 6 districts.

Staff Officer, Department of Rural Department (Bago Region), Myo Aung, said " Before the start of the project, we explain this Emerald Green Project in villages. And then, we provide assistance including training and bank account opening. We also disburse loans after scrutinizing."

Emerald Green Project Committee Member, Padaung Township, Win Myint, said " Since the project has started in 2015-2016, I can pay back all the loans regularly. Now, I’ve received the loan of 40 million Kyats from the project fund. Our committee has now comprised 102 members.
We are working on agriculture including sunflower cultivation and trading in this financial year. We were able to constructa pitch road in our village from the interest of the project."

In-charge, Emerald Green Project , Thet Paing Htoo , said " In this event, local products from all our Thayawaddy District are on display. Here, we have mat from Latpadan Township, broom from Thayawaddy Township and many other projects from other townships."

Under the supervision of the Leading Committee of the regional Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, the Emerald Green Project is underway in Bago Region for the development of rural areas. Under the project, nearly 200,000 business are running.
