Elon Musk has officially confirmed his departure from the U.S. government, announcing the end of his role as a special government employee leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). He expressed gratitude to President Donald Trump for the opportunity and emphasized that DOGE's mission to enhance government efficiency will continue beyond his tenure.

During his tenure, Musk led efforts that resulted in a 12% reduction in the federal civilian workforce, approximately 260,000 jobs, through firings, buyouts, and early retirement offers. His initiatives aimed to modernize government IT systems and eliminate wasteful expenditures. Despite his departure, Musk is expected to remain an informal adviser to President Trump and Vice President JD Vance, continuing to influence the administration's efficiency initiatives.
