Eliminating Online Frauds: 200 illegal immigrants detained on February 26

The government is making strenuous efforts to eliminate online fraud, online gambling and unlawful acts which have been on the rise in border areas with the collaboration of the international organizations.

Moreover, the illegal foreign nationals who are taking control of these unlawful acts are being exposed and deported to their respective countries in line with the laws and procedures.

On 26th February, a total of 200 illegal foreign nationals engaged in online fraud and online gambling at Myawaddy-Shwe Kokko, KK Park and Mae Htaw Thalay areas were detained and the necessary personal information and resumes are compiled to deport them to their respective countries.

The Kayin State Minister for Security and Border Affairs Colonel Min Thu Kyaw and officials oversaw the data compiling process of detained foreign nationals and coordinated necessities.

From 30th January to 26th February 2025, a total of 2,738 illegal foreign nationals were detained. Among them, 673 detainees have already been deported to their respective countries via Thailand and the rest of them are also ready to be deported.
