Elephant Museum: It’s a part of Natural History Museum of YZG

Myanmar’s first international standard elephant museum which is a part of the Yangon Zoological Gardens Natural History Museum is opened daily and accessible to everyone.

In the museum, the grazing areas of the Asian elephants and their habitats, wild elephants’ inhabitance in Myanmar, their habits and histories of evolution through the successive eras can be observed. In addition, the elephant parts and utensils, fossils, elephant skeletons, ivories can be witnessed and Myanmar traditional handicrafts made of the parts of elephant and quality souvenirs can be bought.

The elephant museum was opened on 3rd March, 2019 with the aims at protecting and preserving the wild elephants in Myanmar, reducing human-elephant conflicts and the public participation in the efforts of combating wild elephants butchering and illegal trafficking etc.
