Starting from the 15th of next month, the Police will start issuing electronic penalty tickets for traffic violations in Hong Kong. Hand-written penalty tickets will gradually become part of history, to be replaced by paperless, electronic penalty tickets. From the 15th of June onwards, officers will send out e-tickets for traffic violations such as illegal parking and speeding.
E-version and hand-written version penalty tickets contain basically the same information, both listing details such as plate number, information about the violation, penalty amount and deadline for payment. To pay the penalty, vehicle owners can input the information via designated websites and mobile applications.
They can then pay via various electronic means, such as FPS or credit card. Paper tickets will still be used during the early stages of the e-ticket era.
