Electricity Supply: President Opened Main Substations and Transmission Line

President U Win Myint graced the opening ceremony of 230 KV Namsan-MaiPyin-Kengtung transmission line stringing (151 miles-8 furlongs), 230/66/11 KV/100 MVA Kengtung main substation, 230/66/11 KV/60 MVA MaiPyin main substation and beginning commemoration of the transmission line to the Shan State (East) from National Grid, delivered an address and opened by pressing the button in the morning on Saturday.

The ministry of electricity and energy is striving to fulfil the requirement of electricity supply by implementing short and long term plans. Shan State (East) is one of the projects. The projects for the construction of 230 KV Namsan-MaiPyin-Kengtung transmission line stringing (151 miles), upgrading of 132 KV Namsan main substation into 230 KV level, construction of 230 KV main substation in MaiPyin and Kenturn have been implemented since 2015-2016 fiscal year. 230 KV Kengtung main substation was completed in November 2018. MaiPyin Township in Shan State (East) on 7th June 2020 and Kengtung Township on 27th June 2020 were supplied electricity from National Grid. The ministry of electricity and energy could achieve the target of electrification coverage at 50% of the whole country and is putting effort to meet the target of electrification coverage at 75% in 2025 and 100% in 2030. So, the townships and villages in Shan State (East) will be accessible electricity supply soon.

Present U Win Myint met with the union ministers, Shan State Chief Minister, members of State government and departmental officials at the Amazing Hotel room in Kengtung at 10 am and delivered a remark, it’s learnt.
