Electricity Sector: Cross-border line projects with neighboring countries

Myanmar will conduct the cross-border power line projects with neighboring countries including Laos, China and Thailand to more generate electricity across the country. At present, Myanmar has been generated electricity across the nation from 3 main sources such as 3% of Solar power, 45% of hydropower and 52% of thermal power stations.

A total of 28 hydropower stations have been installed the capacity of 3,225 MW and thermal power stations have been installed 3,738 MW capacity. Also 6 solar power stations have operating with the installed capacity from 180 MW to 2,143 MW. Currently, about 3 solar power stations have been constructed near Nay Pyi Taw and will be completed in 2025-2026.
