Electricity and Energy Development : Commission meeting held in Nay Pyi Taw

Electricity and Energy Development Commission held its meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. Commission Chairman Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Admiral Tin Aung San gave an opening speech, stressing the transmission of 545 megawatts more electricity to the national grid after the first commission meeting.

He also pledged to provide necessary assistance for power distribution to the off-grid areas through solar powered energy. He urged all to follow the Standard Operating Procedures in quality control for imported items to be used in renewal energy sector.

He also instructed the need to prioritize for exploration of new oil and gas fields for increased distribution of natural gas locally, along with the measures for upgrading the existing oil refineries. The meeting discussed the work progress and gave suggestion on the development of electricity and energy sector.
