The main objectives and goals of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy are to ensure the nation’s energy sufficiency, support long-term economic development, and improve the living standards of the public by providing stable and accessible electricity supply, it’s learnt.
U Aung Myo Naing, Region Hluttaw Rep. Const. No. 1, Hlegu Township said “Now, in Thathana Yeiktha Ward of Hlegu Township, the electricity poles and wiring that had previously been installed through self-help community efforts were below standard, so the electricity supply had been very weak. After the Electricity Department reviewed the situation under the 100-day plan and installed a 200-kVA transformer, households are now receiving a stable 220-volt supply."
At present, across the country, the new government is implementing necessary projects under its 100-day plan to ensure that the public can fully access and use electricity.
U Thein Zaw Min Soe, Township E.P Engineer, Hlegu Township said “Our main goal is to ensure that the public receives a continuous electricity supply. Under this 100-day plan, Yangon Northern District received three transformers in total. For Hlegu, one 200-kVA transformer was allocated. In Hlegu Township, there are more than 37,500 electricity users. From our side, we review the reports submitted by the public and also conduct inspections ourselves. Then, we submit the necessary requirements to YESC (Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation) so that sufficient electricity supply can be provided.”
Under this program, in order to meet the electricity needs of residents living in Yeiktha Ward, Hlegu Township, Yangon Region, construction work has now been completed for one 11/0.4 kV, 200 kVA transformer, 700 feet of 11 kV power lines, and 500 feet of 400-volt power lines to provide sufficient electricity supply to the public.
