Electrical Vehicle Issue: Import, manufacturing, charging stations construction

Implementation for the systematic EV imports and construction of EV charging stations are being carried out. EV is a type of vehicle that uses electric power stored in batteries, using motor. EVs import permits will be allowed in accordance with the rules and regulations and efforts are being made to manufacture EVs locally.

Companies need to submit proposals to the steering committee for the import and manufacturing of EVs, chargers and related equipments. For the widely use of EVs across the country, the period from 1st Jan to 31st Dec is currently set as the initial pilot project.

During the project period, construction of charging station is underway in 19 places including Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay and express way.In order to overcome climate change due to the use of fuel and to reduce the emission of toxic gases from fuel-consumed vehicles, EV usage policies have been already implemented in Myanmar.
