Electric buses go on show one month before Osaka Expo 2025

There is just one month to go until EXPO 2025 gets underway on the island of Yumeshima in Osaka. Officials are getting everything ready to roll for opening day, and that includes a fleet of electric buses that will ferry visitors around the venue. 

Maeda Takahiro at Osaka Metro, the company that operates the vehicles, said, "they'd like people to experience at least a little of what the future holds for autonomous driving." A monitor showed passengers how the on-board camera identifies roads and pedestrians. 

The buses have automated driving technology that allows them to operate without human drivers under certain conditions. Expo 2025 starts on April 13 and runs through October 13. Nearly 160 countries and territories will take part.
