El Nino climate phenomenon plunges Peru's fishing industry into crisis

El Nino, a climate phenomenon associated with higher ocean temperatures that trigger droughts and floods, is wreaking havoc in Peru, the world's largest producer of fish oil and fish meal made from anchovy, a variety of fish up to 20 centimeters long that lives in the mildly cold waters off the Peruvian and Chilean coasts.
