Turkish security forces have arrested eight people in the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa over alleged propaganda linked to the Islamic State (IS), authorities said.
The operation targeted suspects accused of sharing content on social media that praised and promoted the terrorist group. The investigation was launched following a recent counterterrorism operation in Yalova, after which authorities stepped up monitoring of online activity related to IS.
Police from Şanlıurfa’s Counterterrorism Department, working in coordination with Turkiye’s National Intelligence Organization, carried out the raids and detained eight suspects. All eight were later referred to court and formally arrested, officials said.
