The Eiffel Tower, France's most iconic monument, celebrated its anniversary on Wednesday marking 130 years since it first opened to the public. Rising 324 meters above Paris, the famed "Iron Lady" was designed by Parisian engineer Gustave Eiffel and built for the 1889 Universal Exhibition. The construction of the most famous of Parisian monuments took two years, two months and five days. Seven million tourists visit the Eiffel Tower each year.
