Egypt and Syria FMs hold talks in Cairo

Syria’s top diplomat visited Cairo Saturday, in a first trip for a Syrian foreign minister to Egypt in over a decade. The meeting between Faisal Mekdad and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry is seen as a step forward normalizing ties between the two countries.

Syria’s state-run SANA news agency reported Mekdad would discuss bilateral ties and the latest developments in the region and the world. Mekdad’s visit comes as the two countries are inching towards re-establishing their ties.
