Efforts for Timber-based Enterprises: Union Minister attends Development Committee’s meeting

The Development Committee on timber-based enterprises held its coordination meeting 4/2022 on Tuesday in Yangon.
In the meeting at the Myanma Timber Enterprise Office, Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi said that prioritizing the protection and conservation of forest resources, only the minimum needs are being extracted.
He also highlighted production of the timber-based value added products and the important role of the timber-based enterprises for jobs creation and local and foreign income.
The Union Minister stressed that in order to develop the timber industry, the department and entrepreneurs need to coordinate and work with teamwork and cooperate with international organizations to improve technology/human resources.
He called for efforts to systematically formulate and implement short-term and long-term plans to get domestic/foreign markets for finished wood products and facilitation of teak and timber tender issues.
The meeting continued with ongoing works and plans for development of timber-based enterprises. On the same day, the Union Minister attended the meeting of the Myanma Timber Enterprise focusing on works and plans during the fiscal year of 2022-2023.
