Efforts for rehabilitation : The repairing of telecom posts competed 99.68 %

Due to cyclone MOCHA, 904 mobile stations of 4 telecom operators were cut off in Rakhine State and repair works have been carried out, only 4 stations were left to repair.

Activities are carried out to provide the internet service free of charge for 3 years at the disaster hit areas. With the effort of the 400 staffs from various regions, including Yangon, the preparation works are carried out.

Director General,Posts and Telecommunications Department,Myo Swe said "Due to MCOHA cyclone, telecommunication infrastructures were damaged in Rakhine State and as the operators perform tasks as quickly as possible. As the responsible organizations, they provide free internet at the hospitals, universities and schools of Rakhine State. Myanmar Posts and telecommunications (MPT) will install free fiber internet for 3 years at the Computer University and Sittwe general hospital. Mytel operator will install free fiber internet for three years at the Sittwe General Hospital, Sittwe University and Buddha university and Nyung U Dhamma center. Similarly, Ooredoo operator will provide free internet at the Sittwe Technical University and Sittwe Traditional Medicine Hospital. Atom will provide free internet at the Nursing institute and industrial high schools."

In addition of providing free internet services, Atom made donation of iron sheets, tarpaulin and foodstuff to the storm hit victims. Also Mytel has plan to provide free internet at the Sittwe High schools and some places of Kyauk Phyu .Currently, the repairing of telecom posts competed 99.68 percent. There are 1233 mobile stations, only 4 left to repair.

With the collaboration of technical head officers, the local residents of Rakhine State, staffs from other regions and states, operators, towers companies and fiber companies, the situation recovery within short period.
