





Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn visited libraries in Yangon Region for development on Friday.
First, the Union Minister visited the Myoma Library in Yankin Township and urged concerned officials to enhance library Services, to provide newspapers and journals in order to know the correct news and to hold knowledge sharing session, and provided 2 million Kyats and books.
He also visited the Tun Foundation Library in Botahtaung Township and stressed that the Head of State himself is paying attention to the development of libraries. Calling for further development, the Union Minister praised this Library as it has a complete range of subjects to read and provided books.
Also, he visited the Information and Public Relations Department in Ahlone Township, held talks with concerned officials on library service and gave necessary instructions for development.
And, at the National Library (Yangon), the Union Minister said that the service of the National Library (Yangon) is good, but the people visit and use them less, so the ministry will help through the media to make them use it more.
Before his visits to the libraries, the Union Minister inspected repair of the Wazira Cinema and stressed that the necessary repair works are being with the state fund and the Cinema is one of Yangon's ancient and historical buildings, so it is necessary to properly take care of the repair works in accordance with the specified standards.
It’s reported that plans are being made to upgrade the Wazira Cinema into a theater.
