Efforts for learning opportunities: Sagaing Region marks International Literacy Day

Sagaing Region held International Literacy Day 2023 at the regional government office in Monywa on Friday with the attendance of Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw.

First, students from No.5 Basic Education High School in Monywa entertained with the song. At the event, the Region Chief Minister said that with the aim for carrying out effectively literacy campaigns for illiterate persons to be educated ones in the world nations, every year on September is designated as the International literacy day.

Through literary, it needs to make efforts for more learning to improve knowledge and to produce human resources that can benefit not only for the families but also for the state and he called on concerned officials to provide assistance for having learning opportunities of the children.

Afterwards, the region education officer read out the message of UNESCO Director General sent by the UN. The region chief minister and officials then enjoyed a video clip on Myanmar literacy activity.

The Region Chief Minister and officials then presented awarding certificates and honoraria to the winning students at the essay, poem and painting competitions.

After that, students from Monywa No.3 Basic Education High School sung the song and the region advocate general presented cash award for the students who entertained the song.

After the photo session, the region chief minister cordially greeted attendees and viewed the winning essays, poems, paintings and documentary photos marking the celebration.
