Efforts for Ethnics: Skills improvement seminar for ethnic language teachers

Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin addressed a ceremony to award completion certificates to ethnic language teachers who attended the skills improvement seminar.

In his address at the College, the Chief Minister said that if a person cannot speak or write the vocabulary changing as time goes by in his or her language, the language will disappear.

For ethnic students, not having the opportunity to learn in their own language may result in the loss of educational opportunities for them and it will have impact on region development. The Chief Minister also urged the ethnic language teachers to nurture the ethnic students to become good citizens with they learnt from the seminar.

And, the Chief Minister presented the regional government’s cash assistance of 3.5 million Kyats to the teachers. Also, he awarded completion certificates to the teachers. The seminar from the 3rd to the 25th of November at the Magway Education Degree College was joined by 118 ethnic language teachers from basic education schools who are teaching 63 ethnic languages.
