Efforts for emergency response: Rakhine State CM administered moving people to safe places

As the cyclonic storm “MOCHA” has intensified into a Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm “MOCHA”, moving people and materials from the areas where the storm can hit in Sittwe Township was viewed and encouraged by the Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, Commander of West Command Maj-Gen Htin Latt Oo, state ministers and officials in the morning on May 13 and coordinated requirements with the responsible officials.

First, the Chief Minister and party viewed the moving rice and commodities to the safe places by the local residents, rice dealers and shoppers from Mi Zan strand road in Sittwe Township and coordinated necessary matters.

Next, the chief minister and party met with the people sheltered in the Cittasukha Kamathana monastery on Ar Kyeik Taw hill of Sittwe and fulfilled requirements of food provisions, electricity and other necessary materials with the coordination of members of Sangha and civil society organizations.

Then, the chief minister and party met with the people who will go to the safe townships from the risks of storm at Sittwe highway bus terminal and the coordinated with the officials concerned for the convenient and safe trip for the displaced people from the storm.

Similarly, the chief minister also oversaw the moving people who live in IDP cams in Sittwe by the motor vehicles of Tatmadaw and Police force to the safe places and coordinated to provide provisions.

In the afternoon, the chief minister gave necessary instructions to the members of natural disaster management committee from Command Post and the district and township chairmen of NDMC regarding with the risks of storm including status of moving people and materials, rescue works and the emergency responses.

Next, the Commander clarified the cooperation of Tamadawmen with the relevant departments in the rescue works and emergency responses when the natural disaster hits.

The district and township disaster management committee chairmen attended the meeting through Video conference clarified the preparation works and the works to be done and the members of Rakhine State Natural Disaster Management Committee explained the implementations of the relevant committees and the works to be carried out. The chief minister and commander coordinated requirements.
