Efforts for Development: Library development & reading habit promotion

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn and Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw attended the opening of library development and reading habit promotion campaign at the No. 1 Basic Education High School in Sagaing Township. The opening included a stage performance and screening a video clip titled ‘Library: Knowledge Bank”. 

In his speech, Chairman of the Myanmar Libraries Development Cooperation Committee Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn said that students must cultivate the habit of reading to improve their lives. Today, technology is rapidly increasing and the students must try.

And, the Union Minister provided 75 million Kyats for construction of new 5 libraries in Sagaing Region and 16,500 books for libraries as well as DTH satellites and DVB T2 Set Top boxes for 8 basic education high schools in Sagaing Township.

Also, the Chief Minister expressed words of appreciation and donated books to the No. 1 Basic Education High School. This event continued with entertainment programmes and presenting cash awards to those who participated in the entertainment programmes. There, the Union Minister also oversaw activities regarding the library development and reading habit promotion campaign.
