To access adequate drinking water in Yangon, the water from the Gyophyu , Hlawga and Phugyi reservoirs was purified and a total of 232 million gallons of water are being distributed daily for Yangon Region from the Lagunpyin and Nyaunghnapin purified drinking water factories.

The Engineering Department (Water and Sanitation) is distributing water to 33 townships of Yangon. 55 water supply trucks have been arranged for drinking water and if there is power outage occurred, the officials will use generators to provide water to areas in need  as quickly as possible.

Deputy Head of Dept, Engineering Department (Water and Sanitation, Thwe Naing Oo, said " We distributed 232 million gallons of water daily for Yangon Region from the Lagunpyin and Nyaunghnapin purified drinking water factories. Prior to the summer, we communicated and negotiated to access constant electricity in advance to avoid power cuts at the sources of water supply. Normally, there are no power outages at sources of water supply. We distribute water to the townships alternately.

In distributing process, it is difficult to pump water with motor, we are solving the problem. If we cannot fix the problem, we inform about this to the township responsible offices."

Not to encounter drinking water shortage, the water distribution is being carried out with water supply vehicles at Dala, Seikkyikanaungto and other side of Kyimyintdaing.
