Educative Seminar : Embracing Artificial Intelligence for social welfare

An educative seminar on Artificial Intelligence (AI) was held at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.

The aim was to equip staff with the necessary skills for constant learning on evolving technology. Union Minister Dr. Soe Win discussed how the use of technology could bring both advantages and consequences, emphasizing the need for efficient utilization for the benefit of mankind. He pointed out that the Ministry is currently utilizing the Social Management Information System to implement social services, which will facilitate more accurate and easier work undertakings in the future. Regarding natural disasters, the Disaster Monitoring and Response System is already in place, but there is still a need to utilize it for weather forecasting, an automated warning system, and as a database for the evacuation process.

In terms of rehabilitation efforts, there has been the emergence of virtual aid and artificial limbs using technology. The Union Minister urged all to apply the knowledge gained from the seminar to ensure successful work undertakings. The seminar featured a presentation on the development processes of AI technology, including the industrial revolution, computer and information technology, its advantages and impacts, innovation, and the influence of technology on mankind.
