Educational Seminar: Awareness for the 2024 Population and Housing Census

The educational seminar on the 2024 Population and Housing Census was held at the Township Hall in Dawei of Tanintaryi Region on Saturday. It was organized by the Ethnic Affairs Minister of the Regional Government, with the aim of educating local ethnic communities in Dawei District.

Speaking on the occasion, the Regional Minister emphasized that the census collection aims to provide accurate population and socio-economic statistics, which will aid in the implementation of effective policies and strategies.

He also highlighted key benefits, including a reliable foundational list for social and economic activities, improved project planning and accurate voter registration. He noted that the census will distinguish between citizens and foreign nationals, supporting the development of the nation’s population policy.

To ensure effective communication, the Regional Minister called on Teaching Assistants and Language Teachers to engage with local ethnic communities in their native languages during data collection.
