Ecuador stepping up to crack down on gangs

Ecuador's armed forces increased patrols and searches on Monday in Guayaquil's poorest and most dangerous neighborhoods in response to days of violence.

The operation is part of Plan Phoenix, a war against the country's dangerous drug gangs.
