Ecuador destroys nearly 22 tons of cocaine seized in largest anti-drug operation

Ecuador's authorities on Thursday destroyed almost 22 tonnes of cocaine, which were buried on a farm in the southwestern coastal province of Los Rios, making the largest drug seizure in the country's history.

According to the Head of anti narcotics area of police, the authorities have made the necessary steps for the deposit and destruction. Once considered an oasis of peace, Ecuador is racked by a war between criminal gangs.
