Economic Zone Issues: Union Minister addresses Central Working Body Meeting

Chairman of the Myanmar Special Economic Zone Central Working Body Union Minister U Aung Naing Oo addressed the Central Working Body meeting 4/2023 at the Ministry of Commerce in Nay Pyi Taw.

In his address, the Union Minister said that the Special Economic Zones are necessary for development. Regarding the Kyauk Phyu Deep Sea Port, discussions were conducted with China International Trust Investment Corporation in order to ensure better clarity and completeness of the license agreement that had already been signed under the previous government and it will be possible to sign a supplementary contract soon.

It is necessary to start preparing vocational education programs for construction of the deep sea port in order to provide employment opportunities. Necessary arrangements are being made for the smooth operation of businesses in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone, the Union Minister added. And, attendees made discussions on further development of special economic zones.
