






A Forum on Rebuilding Myanmar: Post Earthquake Economic Recovery kicked off in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the opening ceremony of the forum which was commenced by the commemorative song and screening of a video clip, followed by a minute of silence observance in remembrance of the affected victims.
In his speech, the Prime Minister expressed the extensive damage of the earthquake, amounting to more than 3,629 billion kyat. He outlined the three strategic pillars in implementing the economic recovery. These pillars are Humanitarian relief and social protection, Infrastructure reconstruction and economic revival and Reform anchored in resilience and inclusivity.
He also stressed the need to work hand in hand with the international and regional partners through the short and long term plans. He extended invitation to the regional and international partners to make investment in the country with the view as a new vision of Myanmar.
The Prime Minister also recognized the bravery, unity and perseverance of the local communities during the time of disaster which will reflect in the long term recovery efforts under the concept of “We are stronger, We are Together”.
He urged all to make cooperative efforts in shaping a better future of the prosperous nation. The Forum on Rebuilding Myanmar: Post Earthquake Economic Recovery aims to acknowledge the economic opportunities and challenges after the earthquake, to penetrate market for local product utilizing the geo-politics and geo-economic opportunities, and to promote cooperation among the entrepreneurs. The forum is scheduled to be held for two days from May 30 to 31.
