Over 30 companies from Flanders, northern Region of Belgium make their economic mission to Myanmar from December 2nd to 6th.
Flanders Investment & Trade conducted the mission, and the three major economic sectors represented, which are energy, logistics, and agro business.
Ambassador said that many companies are already invested in the country in textile industry, construction and Thilawa Special Economic Zone, which provided job opportunities for Myanmar workers.
Ambassador, The Kingdom of Belgium to Myanmar, H.E Philippe Kridelka said "... There are many sectors of the economy represented but the three major themes are logistics, energy, and agro business. There are strong interests from the Belgium Flemish companies in contributing to the development in Myanmar in the fields of agro-business. For instance, where Belgium company who it just starting now....In the energy sector, we have a very good Belgium, Flemish company, high-tech company doing, burning garbage and recycling energy to produce sustainable energy... And logistics, of course, on Belgium and Flanders, we have the second largest harbor in Europe, Antwerp… "
Aside from the three priorities areas, entrepreneurs from Flanders show their interests in other sectors.
Ambassador, The Kingdom of Belgium to Myanmar, H.E Philippe Kridelka said "... We do want to develop economic relation with you country. We do want to develop a partnership between the Universities; We also want more partnership between civil society practitioners... We discuss today cooperation the harbor of Flanders and the harbor here. There is strong interest of your country in many fields with. We talk also about traffic congestion, public transportation in Yangon....”
The business delegation from Flanders will visit to Nay Pyi Taw to meet and discuss with Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Transportation and The Ministry of Planning and Finance for the future cooperation, according to the Ambassador.
