Economic Affairs: PM addresses committee’s meeting 6/2023

The Myanmar Economic Affairs Committee held the meeting 6/2023 on Wednesday afternoon at the office of the Chairman of the State Administration Council. In the meeting, Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in his capacity as the Chairman of the Committee stressed that the country's domestic finances and economy are completely dependent on domestic strength.

They government is making efforts to produce more products for the development of the country's economy. The country's economy has seen reasonable growth in recent times and is expected to continue to grow – 3.4 percent in the fiscal year of 2022-2023.

As the country is an agricultural country, there is a strong market for producing products based on agriculture. The use of land must be acted correctly. To ensure self-sufficiency in edible oil, oil crops such as beans, sesame and sunflower cultivation is encouraged.

The government is also encouraging the development of electricity production from renewable energy, the Senior General added. And, the attendees reported on issues including financial matters, field service to local businessmen, economic cooperation with international organizations, trade condition and commercial contracts.

In his response, the Senior General said that it is necessary to act truthfully when carrying out economic activities.Regarding the activities carried out by the ministries, there is a need to manage the operations to be able to operate fully.

As the activities carried out by the government are activities that support the development of the country and the public, all activities need to be successfully carried out in an orderly manner to balance income and expenditure. The government's business activities should help the development of the country rather than profit. It should not be a loss, the Senior General added.
