Nightclubs in Amsterdam stayed open on Saturday night in protest at COVID-19 restrictions during the pandemic. Not all nightclubs took part because of the threat of fines.

The campaign went under the slogan 'The night is rising'. The Netherlands has been easing its lockdown, although Dutch bars and restaurants still have to close at 10 p.m.

Under government rules that are due to come into effect clubs will have to close by 1 a.m. The night passed without major problems for most of the clubs that did participate.
