A Dutch-Belgian company produces vegan cheese

A Dutch-Belgian company is investing six million euros in research and production of cheese without the use of animal dairy.

The company “Those Vegan Cowboys” has found a way to produce casein without using cows. Casein is the main protein in cheese. Making cheese without using milk has many advantages: it is much cheaper and it’s also much better for the climate.

The vegan cheese has already been approved for sale in the United States. The company aims to hold tastings in the Netherlands next year and release it on the European market in three to four years.
