

The COP28 climate summit in UAE adopted a final deal on Wednesday. The deal, a first-ever call for the world to transition away from fossil fuels was approved by nearly 200 nations during the summit.
Sultan Al Jaber, COP28 President said "My colleagues and friends, you did step up. You showed flexibility and you put common interest ahead of self-interest. We have the basis to make transformational change happen. Let's finish what we have started."
jaber said the United Arab Emirates was "rightly proud" of its role in bringing "transformational change" to the planet. He hailed the deal as an "historic package" of measures that offers a "robust plan" to keep the target of 1.5 degrees Celsius within reach. It marked the first mention of all fossil fuels in 28 years of climate summits.
