Dubai opens 'Expo City' at site of Expo 2020

A stunning light show lit up the Al-Wasl Dome at the official opening of Expo City Dubai on Saturday night.

The event also marked a year since the inauguration of Expo 2020 Dubai, in which the Al Wasl Dome provided the main stage.Among the attractions at Expo City, visitors will be able to access a rotating observation tower and a cascading waterfall.Officials in Dubai announced in June that the Expo 2020 site would be transformed into Expo city Dubai.The new city will be car free and accessible on foot or by using buggies and bicycles.

The site forms part of the 2040 plan to develop Dubai.According to UAE statistics,Expo 2020 received around 24 million visitors over 182 days, despite the coronavirus pandemic that delayed the exhibition by a year.
