








Organized by Rakhine State Government, the ceremonies of offering dry provisions to the 500 members of Sangha and nuns and merits sharing was held at the platform of Lawka Nanda pagoda in Sittwe Township in the morning on 16th October and attended by State Chief Minister U Htein Lin and wife who is the Patron of State Federation of Women’s Affairs, State Government members and their wives, military officials from Sittwe Station and their wives, departmental officials and well-wishers.
First, the Chief Minister and wife paid homage to the Lawka Nanda pagoda, viewed the preparations for offering dry provisions by the well-wishers including departmental personnel, business entrepreneurs, ward administrators, civil society organizations, teachers from the basic education schools and local residents and cordially greeted them.
Next, the well-wishers led by the Chief Minister offered dry provisions including rice, cooking oil, medicines and offertories to the members of Sangha. The dry provisions offering ceremony was graced by the Maha Thera Sayadaws, members of Sangha, novices and nuns residing in Sittwe Township.
At the merit sharing ceremony, the congregation led by the State Chief Minister observed five precepts administered by presiding Sayadaw of Tat-U Hsu Taung Pyae Pariyatti Sarthintaik in Sittwe and took the Paritta Suttas recited by the members of Sangha.
Then, Chief Minister and wife, State Government members, and officials donated offertories to the Sangha. After that, they took the sermon delivered by the presiding Sayadaw of Panna Lankara monastery and shared the merits gained.
During the ceremonies of offering dry provisions and merits sharing organized by the Rakhine State Government, totaling over 72.481 million Kyats including 247 rice bags, cash donation of 9.72 million Kyats and offertories worth over 62.761 million Kyats were donated, it’s learnt.
