Drug Seizure: Stimulant tablets worth K2.2 billion seized in Mandalay

Stimulant tablets worth 2.2 billion kyats were seized in PyiGyiTaGon Township, Mandalay Region. Following a tip-off, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force searched two Nissan 12-wheelers and arrested driver Aung Naing Htwe @ Phoe Thar, Ye Lin Phyo, driver Nan Lin and Ye Win Htet, respectively, along with 1.01 million stimulant tablets.

Further investigations led to the arrests of drug transporters Soe Thiha and Aung Phyo at SweTaw Express Gate, Amarapura Township on March 15, uncovering an additional 500,000 tablets. The operation traced the order to Zaw Min Htun @ Ko Zaw @ Pone Tu who was arrested at his home.

According to Myanmar Police Force, the seized stimulant tablets were being transported from Shan State to Sagaing Region for sale. As a result, the suspects have been charged under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law, while efforts to reveal additional perpetrators are ongoing.
