Drug Seizure: Over 1.36 billion kyats worth heroin seized in Thazi

In Thazi Township of Mandalay Region, Myanmar Police Force reported the seizure of over 1.36 billion kyats worth of heroin. On 2nd February, a combined team, comprised of the Anti-Narcotic Unit, acting on a tip-off, stopped and searched three motorcycles in the valley near Kyawe Kya  Village Creek.

They discovered 33 kilos of heroin hidden in soap trays, leading to the arrest of three suspects. Subsequent interrogation led to the arrest of two more suspects in Kyawe Tat Sone Village, along with a motorcycle.

Additionally, over 21 kilos of heroin were found in the residence of a suspect in Yinmarbin Village. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of one more suspect aboard the 22-wheeler used for transporting the heroin at Ayethaya in Taunggyi.

The investigation unveiled that the seized heroin was being transported from Shan State to Mandalay Region. The case was filed as a lawsuit in line with the law.
