In a recent operation, the Tatmadaw (Navy) seized more than 36.25 billion kyats worth of methamphetamine in Myanmar's territorial waters. According to the Myanmar Police Force report, on January 4th, a naval vessel conducted a search of the Yan Lin Kaw (4) motorboat approximately 135 miles southeast of Haigyi Island in the Ayeyawady Region.

The search resulted in the discovery of 1.45 tons of ICE (methamphetamine), leading to the arrest of four suspects on board. Subsequent interrogations led to the arrest of an additional suspect at Kanni Bridge in Kawthaung of the Taninthayi Region on the 7th. Investigations revealed that the drugs were being transported from Haigyi Island to the Kawthaung water territory, presumably for overseas distribution. The authorities have filed a lawsuit in accordance with the law to address the case.
