Drug Seizure in Mandalay: Over 44.7 billion worth stimulant tablets seized

On March 22nd, 20 million stimulant tablets were seized near Kyauk Chaw Village of Pathein Gyi Township in Mandalay Region.

Acting on a tip-off, a combined team comprised of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force intercepted Mıtsubıshı Canter 6-wheeler vehicle which carried the stimulant tablets driven by Kyaw Swar Tun from Pyin Oo Lwin to Mandalay. Further investigations revealed the drug trafficking group, leading to the arrest of suspects Tint Lwin Moe, Ye Min @ Nwar Gyi, Kay Thwe Moe, Ko Sai @ Sai Tun Aung Kyaw, Saw Thant Sin @ Ko Ye and Aung Kyaw Lay @ Ye Min Aung and Lu Aye in Pyin Oo Lwin, Pyi Gyi Takhon and Chan Mya Thar Si townships.

Additionally, 9.75 million stimulant tablets were sized at one of the suspects’ residential area in Pathein Gyi Township. During the operation, a total of 29.75 million stimulant tablets which worth over 44.6 billion kyats were seized.  Investigation is underway and legal actions have been taken in line with Anti-Money Laundering Law.
