Drone aerials of Croatia's new Pelješac Bridge

A bridge connecting the southernmost parts of Croatia and the country's mainland will open with an official ceremony on Tuesday attended by the country's president and prime minister. The 2.4 km-long Peljesac Bridge, along with 20km of access roads, will also open to traffic on Tuesday.

The bridge will provide a direct road link between the southernmost part of Croatia and the rest of the country bypassing Bosnia and Herzegovina's short coastal strip at Neum. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Chinese President Xi Jinping (via videolink) will attend the inauguration ceremony of what is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the EU, built by China.
