DRC President delivers State of the Union address ahead of elections

President of Democratic Republic of Congo Félix Tshisekedi addressed in parliament, talking about the security situation, the prospects for the arrival of a new international force in the east of the country and respect for the December electoral deadlines.

A total of 26 candidates will run in December 20 election, in which he is vying for a second term in office. Envoys representing five major opposition politicians who are all contesting the upcoming election arrived in the administrative capital Pretoria for talks. The talks in Pretoria may last until Thursday, and have been organized under the aegis of South African NGO In Transformation Initiative.
