Donation Ceremony: Union Minister donates cash to orphanage, monasteries

Hailing Myanmar Women's Day 2023, the donation ceremony for orphans was held at the Sama Taung Maha Parahita Children and Youth Development Center in Thawuthti Township, Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday morning.

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Head of Departments and invited guests attended at the ceremony. First, the Union Minister and members donated offertories to Principal Sayadaw of Sama Taung Parahita Children and Youth Development Center, Baddanta Nyaninda.

The Union Minister then looked into caring of the newborn babies in the Center. He then observed the students learning and gave encouragement to them at the middle school branch (Sama Taung-Nay Pyi Taw).

He also attended the fundraising ceremony for orphans with the proceeds from the future solo music concert of the famous singer Myanmar Pyi Thein Tan, which was held at the Myanmar International Convention Center (MICC-2) in Nay Pyi Taw in December 2022.

At the event, the Union Minister gave encouragement words to orphans and donated 12 million Kyats to the Sama Taung Maha Parahita Children and Youth Development Center and 2 million kyats each to Aye Mya Shwe Pyi Rakhine Monastery and Thihol Monastery.

Sama Taung Parahita Children and Youth Development Center was established in 1990 by two Sama Taung Sayadaws to nurture the orphans and it is located about 4 miles from Thawuthti Township in Nay Pyi Taw.

Since establishing, there were 4 children and during one month, it increased to 25 children. Now, the center is nurturing a total of 1,150 students and 40 children including infants and 3-year-old ones.
