Afghanistan's domestic flights, which were suspended following the takeover by the Taliban, resumed over the weekend with the state-run Ariana Afghan Airlines operating between Kabul and three provinces.

Shershah Stor, the airline’s station manager at Kabul airport, told The Associated Press flights restarted on Saturday to western Herat, southern Kandahar and northern Balkh provinces. He said the journeys were conducted without a functioning radar system at the capital's airport.

A team of Qatari and Turkish technicians arrived in Kabul last week to help restart operations at the airport, which the UN says is crucial to providing the country with humanitarian assistance. however, it remains to be seen whether any commercial airlines will be willing to offer service.
