Distinguished Lecture: Engineering innovation for a more resilient world

Myanmar organized AAET Distinguished Lecture for the Commemoration of World Engineering Day via online on Saturday. The event was organized by AAET Country Operation Unit of Myanmar with the permission of AAET.

Patron of Myanmar Engineering Council Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than made an opening speech, saying that this year’s theme for the World Engineering Day is “Engineering innovation for a more resilient world”.

The ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology (AAET) has organized this event aiming to promote the engineering innovation for more resilient ASEAN and the world.

The Union Minister emphasized the successful innovation of constructing the world highest stone curving Buddha Image in Nay Pyi Taw which is 81 ft high and 5,292 tons. He continued that the world today is facing many challenges including COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, natural disasters, health issue, migration and citizenship issue, peace and security.

He stressed that with the innovation ideas of the engineers, it could not only build a more resilient world but a better world. It was followed by an honorary speech of the AAET President and lecture on Seismic Hazard and Vulnerability Assessment for Bagan/ Nyaung U Area by the AAET Vice President, Chairman of Myanmar Engineering Council.
