Displaced Palestinians have been forced to flee again amid renewed Israeli strikes in Al-Mawasi area of the Gaza Strip west of the southern city of Rafah. More than 37,880 people have been killed in Gaza since October 7.

The Israeli military campaign in the besieged coastal enclave came in response to the October attack by Palestinian militant group Hamas on southern Israel that authorities there say killed around 1,200 people and saw 2,450 hostages taken. Around 120 hostages remain in Gaza, several of whom have been killed, according to Israel and Hamas.
