Disease Control and Prevention: Myanmar Delegation Visits Jiangsu Provincial CDC

Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win and a delegation from Myanmar visited the Jiangsu Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Nanjing, China, on September 17th.

They attended a Symposium for Professional Technical Personnel training of the Myanmar National CDC. Mr. Zhou Minghao, Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission, extended greetings and discussed plans for extended cooperation in public health and disease control measures.

Union Minister Dr. Thet Khaing Win stated that arrangements have been made for the earliest opening of the Myanmar Center for Disease Control and Health Staff Training Center, which is jointly implemented by Myanmar and China.

This center could provide support not only for local health issues but also in the region. He added that the Ministry is also making necessary arrangements for a reciprocal visit of health experts to conduct training.

The meeting also included a detailed discussion on promoting cooperation in the health sector and further collaboration in the prevention and control of infectious diseases, including malaria in border areas, and herbal medicine.

The delegation later toured the Laboratories with Bio-security Level-3, Food and Disease Test, occupational health, and environmental hygiene.
