


The meeting of the Working Committee for International Relations (2/2023) under the National Disaster Management Committee was held at the Ministry of International Cooperation on Friday.
During the meeting, Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Working Committee, highlighted the exploration of ways to coordinate among stakeholders for the effective provision of international assistance to the people affected by Cyclone Mocha.
Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Thet Thet Khine, in her capacity as the Deputy Chair of the National Disaster Management Centre, discussed the ongoing collaboration among stakeholders while emphasizing the importance of a Whole-of-Government approach/Whole-of-Society approach in cyclone response.
The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, in the capacity as the Vice Chair of the Working Committee, provided updates on international assistance and donations to the population affected by the cyclone.
Subsequently, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and members of the Working Committee discussed practical approaches as a way forward for cyclone response in the affected areas, as well as possible ways to ensure effective cooperation for international assistance to the cyclone-affected population.
