Disaster Response: Temporary shelters for quake-hit staff families

The Ministry of Industry is making efforts to relocate the staff affected by the severe earthquake. On Thursday, Union Minister Dr Charlie Than met with the concerned officials to discuss the work progress.

The meeting discussed the construction of more temporary shelters, relocating the staff at the facilities under the ministry, providing accommodation for those taking shelter at the basic education schools. Systematic compiling of staff list needed for relocation and those living in the blue-level buildings.

Following the meeting, the Union Minister and party visited the blue-level buildings in Wunna Theikdhi Ward and oversaw the condition of buildings durability. These buildings have been designated as the blue-level ones by the Housing Scrutiny Team and staff are now being accommodated there.

In addition, temporary shelters have been provided for the staff at the Thiri Yadana Market as well as the Building No.251 in Mingala Theikdhi Ward. During the inspection, the Union Minister also assessed the damages at the Office No.30.
