Villages in Tatkone, Pobbathiri, Zeyathiri and Pyinmana Townships were inundated due to the floods caused by the impact of Typhoon Yagi, and the affected villagers have been evacuated to the safer places.
Union Minister for Social Welfare Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win accompanied by Nay Pyi Taw Council Area Chairman U Than Htun Oo and officials inspected the evacuation process on 12th September. According to initial reports, over 67,000 people from more than 15,000 households from villages in Nay Pyi Taw have been affected by the flood.
They also met with the flood victims, providing foodstuff, coordinating the needs and gave encouragement. In the afternoon, the Union Minister participated in the Disaster awareness program at No. (5) Basic Education High School in Nay Pyi Taw Zabuthiri Township, commemorating the National Disaster Risk Reduction Day to be fall on October 13th. About 500 students participated this campaign, featuring educative booths and quiz games.
